About
artist statement
Dan's subject matter tends to be animals in surreal landscape format, however, his intention is to use color to convey an emotional response to the painting and less about the actual subject (animals). His process uses layers of oil paint and transparent glazes to create depth of color, especially the backgrounds where he adds repetitive paint marks. The Blue Sheep series is continued along with some new additions inspired from a trip to Bhutan in 2014 where he hiked the Himalayan Mountains filled with wild Yak.
